Eczema is a skin ailment that can affect anyone; from a
5-month old baby, a 6 year old toddler or an adult in his forties. This skin
disorder can produce symptoms so disturbing that those afflicted can’t wait to
get some form of treatment going. These symptoms may range from very dry skin,
to irritation and inflammation to patches of reddish skin that’s itchy and
begging for some scratching. Naturally, scratching won’t do the job. In fact,
it’ll just make the situation worse. There are natural home remedies for
eczema, though, that have been proven to relieve eczema’s symptoms and in time
get rid of them with proper application of these natural treatments.
Some of these affordable, effective treatments are:
Emollients: These are essentially moisturizers that can be
purchased in the form of creams and ointments. They can keep the skin moist
especially when spread on the affected area right after bathing. Do this about
3-4 times a day to get the best results. Regular soaps are a no-no. They tend
to dry out the skin. You can use emollient soap instead. It doesn’t produce too
much foam or lather but it’ll clean you up just as good.
Get Into A Detox Bath That Heals: In a medium size pot of
water that’s boiling, put in ¼ cup of baking soda, add on Epsom salt and
regular sea salt. Get your bath tub running with warm water and pour about a
third of a cup of apple cider vinegar. You can then pour in the whole pot of
the boiling mixture, get in and soak in it for 30 minutes or for as long as you
can bear it.
Prepare Cold Compresses: To relieve itchiness of eczema, a
cold compress is a great, effective remedy. You simply need to take a soft
piece of cotton cloth and dip it into very cold water with ice cubes. Wring out
the excess water and gently put it directly over the itchy rashes.
Make Flower Ointment: In your coffee grinder, grind some
marigolds and calendula flowers and dry to produce a powder to which you can
add five to six drops of lavender oil and tea oil. Stir then apply this
ointment on the affected area twice a day. This should help heal the skin
irritation and itchiness.
Camphor Plus Sandalwood: You can do a mixture of this and
get rid of your eczema. Blend one teaspoon of camphor powder and another
teaspoon of sandalwood paste. Stir and mix, then apply thickly over the scaly
and dry patches of your eczema. Let it stay for about fifteen minutes, after
which wash it off with warm water. You’ll see skin improvement in three or four
days.
These are just five of the natural home remedies for eczema
that have brought positive results for a lot of people living with eczema. You
may try them if your eczema situation needs some immediate relief. Naturally, a
chat with your family doctor or health care provider about this can’t do any
harm.
